Mom, what a great day this has been! I can’t believe we found my friend again at the nursing home. When I heard her yell my name down the hall, my little tail just started to wag so much! She was so happy to see me. And I was happy to see her too. And when I got to lay in the bed with her and she just rubbed my head. Yep, that was good times.

The school supply delivery was so much fun too. I love seeing our friends get the supplies they need. And the … Truth, I know you are excited and it has been a great day, but you need to settle down and get some rest for church tomorrow.

CHURCH?!?! Yes, church. What’s wrong with you? Mom, I can’t go to church. I didn’t bring anything to wear for church. You didn’t tell me we were going to go to church.  It’s okay Truth. You don’t have to have anything special to wear.  Yes I do Mom.  No you don’t.  But Mom, what if people look at me funny?  Truth, don’t you think a dog in church is going to turn heads? I really don’t think they are going to be worried about what you are wearing. But if it makes you feel any better you can wear your pink vest.  MY VEST??  What’s wrong with your vest?  Well, it…it just… well, it just let’s people know I don’t have it all together. Truth, what are you talking about? Mom, what does the first line on my vest say?  In training.  That’s right! In training. That tells everyone I still make mistakes. That I’m still learning. And you want me to wear that in church of all places?   Truth, I think that’s the best place to wear it.

Well, I guess since that’s all I have, I will have to wear it. Mom, are you sure you want me in church since I’m still learning and I still mess up?  Truth, there’s no other place I would have you.  Okay, Mom. I’m ready to go worship just like I am.

Wouldn’t it be great if we all got to wear a little vest in church that said, “In training?” How freeing would that be? Right away everyone would know we are still learning. Still making mistakes. But still learning. Still in training.  Where did we ever get the idea we have to be a certain way or look a certain way to go to church? That we had to act like we were out of training, having passed all the tests? I learned a lot from Truth this Sunday in worship. It was a group of people who gathered together to worship. As people came in and saw Truth, some called her to them, some came up to her and loved on her and some ignored her. That’s when it hit me. We all do the same thing with The Truth. We either invite HIM to us, then we love on HIM or sadly some ignore HIM and say “no thanks.”  Truth this weekend went to anyone who called her or wanted her to come to them. The Truth (Jesus) does the same thing! Yes, Sunday everyone was there in their “training vest” and at that moment, there was Truth in Worship!

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
