What We Do » Weekend Food Ministry

Nothing but the Truth provides “Weekend Food Bags” for over 1,200 children weekly in 55 local elementary and middle schools. Students have been identified by their school counselors as being food insecure and in need of additional food for the weekend.

Weekend Food Ministry Details

Children who participate in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program during the week often struggle to have food over the weekends. That's where the weekend food ministry steps in. Bags of food are provided to local school counselors in order to be sent home with the students EVERY Friday in their backpacks. Bags include easy-open/self-serve foods.

Below is a complete list of weekend food items we collect. Over 1,200 of each of these items are sent home with students EVERY week!

We are currently collecting individual mac n cheese, pop tarts, individual boxes/bowls of cereal

Volunteers on this team are needed for:

Packing and delivering weekend food bags to schools. We meet during the school year on Monday evenings 6:00-7:00P.M. and Thursday mornings at 9:15A.M. at Truth’s Annex . See below for directions and email address for further information.

Collecting items for our food bags (food drives… great for sports teams, girl scouts, boys scouts, neighborhoods, workplace)

Quarterly outreach to the schools we serve by providing items to uplift and encourage the staff. A great way to say “Thank You” for the job they do.
