Truth, are you still working on that marrow bone? You’ve gotten all the good stuff out.
I know Mom, but now is when it is doing the most good. I just love gnawing on my bone. I wish you would ONLY gnaw on your bone and leave the baseboards alone. Mom, do we have to go there? I thought we were trying to tell an inspiring story. Way to change the subject, Truth. W-E-L-L, it’s true. I may be down to nothing in the marrow of my bone, but just look at the job it’s doing for my teeth! Yes, you do like to show off your pearly whites!
Mom, can I keep my bone? Of course you can, Truth. Like you said, you may be down to nothing but now is when it is doing the most good.

There’s a line in a song that says, “When I’m down to nothing, HE’s up to something.” This past week the Lord reminded me of this in a very real way. I was trying to prepare for a Bible study during a week that was super busy. I mean almost every minute of the day was packed with something that HAD to get done. I labored and labored over that lesson. “I got nothing” is a saying I use when I’m really tired or I feel empty. Well, it was leading into the day of the Bible study and until this point, “I had nothing.” Or at least that’s what I thought. When it got down to the day of the study, the Lord reminded me of the Scripture HE wanted me to use. He used the study of HIS Word and songs of worship to really touch some lives that night. HE even brought the most unlikely attendee to our study! I was down to nothing but HE was up to something.

No one likes being down to nothing. It’s a hard place to be and I don’t make light of it. I don’t know where you are right now, but odds are, someone reading this feels like they are down to nothing. Maybe it’s financially, emotionally or even spiritually. Life has a way sometimes of draining us to the point we feel, “we got nothing”. I want to encourage you. Don’t give up! Don’t ever give up! I don’t know how or when, but I know if you ask sincerely, HE will show up! Maybe it’s a little like Truth’s bone…when there’s not much left of us, when we are down to nothing…that’s when HE can do the most good.
